Resolute Resolution

Welcome to my little corner of the blog world. I know a lot of people make and break New Years Resolutions all the time. In fact, I have been guilty of breaking a few New Years resolutions of my own. I made that same resolution – this year I will work out more, this year I will lose weight – so many times, that I actually gave up making New Years Resolutions for some time. I called them stupid and silly. And yes, maybe in some ways, making a New Years Resolution can be silly. Why should things be different just because a new year is on the calendar?

But last year, I made a New Years Resolution to take a picture nearly everyday of the year, and you know what? I did it! And it was even fun. And it sure feels good in this new year to know that last year I said I was going to do something and I did it. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. Also, there is something different and exciting about a new calendar year.  Sometimes cliches are true, and a fresh year really can mean a fresh start. So this is mine.

So what is this New Years Resolution I am jabbing about? Keep a healthy living blog for the year and hopefully beyond. I have been on a mission to make myself a healthier person since the end of this past September. I used to be a very healthy person – I even had a minor in Sports & Nutrition in college – but lost my way in law school. It was an intense experience and overall I really enjoyed it. However, I taught myself to put study time and flexing my mental muscles ahead of any of physical ones time and time again. I took comfort in late night snacks and over indulgent meals. And I gained weight and stopped working out. I hit my breaking point this September when I went to begin my new job. Clothes weren’t fitting how I wanted to, and I decided to go on my weight loss journey.

That journey has lead me not only to eating less calories and fat, but to eating healthier. I have been reading lots of healthy living blogs for motivation, and I am successfully half way to my weight loss goal. I hope for this blog to be an outlet for me to record new recipes I discover, new workouts I try out, and to mix in some fun stories of my new life as a non-student along the way. So here I am 2011. I’m ready.

From my hat to your hearts.
